Meet Rebekah Lancaster, Customer Success Manager

This quarter, we are delighted to introduce you to Rebekah Lancaster. Many of our clients know Rebekah as our Customer Success Manager, assisting clients with their training needs; however, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Rebekah is an operations superstar and helps us keep organised, supporting Alex Blinko, our COO, to keep our organisation running smoothly.

In this article, Rebekah shares her career journey to date, explaining what drew her to work with CAT and what she is most passionate about.

Rebekah – tell us a little about your work history and how you came to join Cyber Audit Team.

“My work history has been a journey of organic progression. I started out in admin working for the State Government, but quickly moved up the ranks managing government campaigns and disseminating information to the public. I then transitioned to the tech industry, where I managed bespoke software solutions for clients to ensure supply chain compliance. This is also where I met Damian Seaton and Alex Blinko, the Directors of Cyber Audit Team.

From there, I took on the role of Client Relationship Manager for a national insurance builder, eventually becoming the Operations Manager for Queensland. Despite not having a construction background, I knew how to make business operations hum.

My diverse work experience in client relationship and business operations roles allowed me to venture back into the tech industry after having my children, and the rest is history!”

What do you most enjoy about your role at Cyber Audit Team?

“The thing that I most enjoy is solving problems, especially when working with customers because they need help finding a solution. It’s like solving a puzzle using all the available pieces within the business.

I love working directly with clients on a daily basis — Understanding their needs, providing solutions that fit perfectly, overseeing the implementation, and ensuring it meets their expectations. I really do value the opportunity to make a tangible impact on clients’ organisations and feel fulfilled each time they express satisfaction with the service provided by our team.

What drew you to work for Cyber Audit Team?

“Having worked with Damian and Alex previously, I could not pass up the opportunity to work with them again.

In contrast to other workplaces where people are often driven by their own needs, at CAT, there is no ego and no unhealthy competition; everyone is working together toward the same end goal and cheering for each other’s success. The focus on shared achievement creates a highly productive and enjoyable work environment.

More importantly, Damian and Alex have created an inclusive work environment where women have a voice at the corporate table, which is often not found in the cyber industry, where women only make up around 25% of the global cyber workforce.”

We are more than our job titles. Bek, tell us a little more about your life outside of work.

“My life journey has been an exciting one, taking me from the quaint town of Gympie to various places across the globe. I left Gympie at 19 and moved to Mackay, then Brisbane, and eventually to Newcastle. My first time venturing outside of Australia took me to Mexico, where I worked for a children’s refuge in a border town for a year. I had always been interested in foreign aid and wanted to make a difference in the world. It was here that I really found my love for operations, helping the organisation refine its processes and problem-solve issues. Even better, though, was seeing the difference it was making in the lives of the children.

I am an avid musical theatre nerd, which most people I work with may not be aware of, and I have an unquenchable thirst for travel. My preferred destinations, prior to having kids, are places that take me outside my comfort zone and offer a completely new experience. Since having children, I have traveled to India and, most recently, to Japan however, when traveling with the kids, the destinations are a little more mainstream.

In addition to being passionate about music and travel, I’m also committed to humanitarian causes. Further to my time in Mexico, I have volunteered with various organisations, mainly in support of causes related to children and making a positive impact on people’s lives.

Thanks, Rebekah, for sharing your journey with us and giving us a glimpse into your world outside of work.
